Whether you’re in the middle of a writers block, need a bit of inspiration or if you’re just plain old lazy, there’s a tool online that will help you out with your song’s melody: Autochords.com.
Based on the Music Theory Cheat Sheet, Autochords is a site that generates chord progressions based on key, mood and instrument. They also have a free iPhone/iPad app but it got lackluster reviews, so I’d just stick with the site.
Keep in mind that it isn’t a miracle worker, but it will give you a nudge in the right direction.
