I’ve said it before: it’s interesting how we as humans will avoid pursuing our dreams and goals because of fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of failure, and even fear of change: they are all kryptonite to our destiny.
I’m a bit late to the game, but here’s a video of singer/talk show host Adrienne Bailon discuss why she’s avoided pursuing her music. It speaks volumes to how many of us are going through the same internal struggles, regardless of gender/ethnicity/social status/etc.
It takes work and diligence, but we must believe in ourselves and the talents we’ve been given. Throwing caution to the wind and running top-speed into your destiny will not be without its struggles, but it’s worth it.
If I always gave in to my fear, I would still be in Chicago working a menial job. Pushing through it allowed me to move to Los Angeles, where I work in entertainment and actually utilize my $100,000 bachelors degree.
I’m still learning and growing, and I don’t always get it right, but I know I can’t get to the level I want to be (and beyond) without pushing through my insecurities and fear of the unknown. It may not look like what others expect, but if it’s your dream, do it.
